It's Complicated

Why do people get married? Well, probably for a lot of superficial reasons. But for most, to marry is because they have found someone perfect to be with for the rest of their life.

Why have an illicit affair? For a lot of mischievous reasons…fun, excitement and perhaps experience. To analyze further, people get into surreptitious affairs to acquire the missing 10% of what their legal husband and wife do not have. To have that 10% missing perfection to make their life alone seemingly perfect and be earthly satisfied.

Why get into a divorce? For a lot of petty reasons that eventually have grown out of proportion. And for most, the third party is the most painful.

It’s Complicated casts seasoned actors in Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin. It gives us a hilarious yet disturbing look on marriage, divorce, and life in between. The marriage woes of Jake (Baldwin) and Jane (Streep) has greatly affected the lives of their three grown children. They were still trying to recover from that decade long divorce and were not convinced that it was a good idea of having their parents together again anytime soon.

Jake and Jane obviously have unfinished business as seen in their passion for each other after all that has happened. They needed closure and to realize that the divorce was not only to blame on one person. It was for both of them to take responsibility.

Marriage is not about giving up when life becomes rough because in the end when life eventually becomes how it should be, we may never be a part of it anymore because of that 10% you chose over the 90% that you have already possessed and after all mattered most.
