Working Girls

Working Girls (2010). Is there something good about this movie? There must be something good. Though there are three good trivial points about movie, I feel that I am unconvincingly impelled to say good about the movie just for the sake of looking beyond what is beyond the message. But what is really left in the subconscious of the moviegoers when 98% of the movie is careless and morally disturbing. Anyway, first, empowerment and strength of a woman. This was portrayed in Paula’s relentless efforts of raising up her family especially her love for her children. Second, Tere’s compassion and love for those who are sick and suffering even to the woman her ex-boyfriend chose to love over her. And lastly, Rio Locsin’s dialogue to her daughter Jennylyn (Ada) – like mother like daughter (life is not that way, you can carve your own destiny).

Jose Javier Reyes’ Working Girls (2010) is an annoyingly dispersed, shallow, and trying hard movie. A chick-flick of profane words with an incoherent display of the so-called acceptable social trends in our society.
